Pressure washing marketing: how the busy guys actually get customers

Pressure washing marketing: how the busy guys actually get customers — Deeper Digital, local SEO for Central Texas service businesses

Two pressure washers in the same town. Same trailer, same skill, same prices.

One is booked three weeks out. The other checks his phone after every job.

The difference is almost never the work. It’s who shows up when a homeowner types “pressure washing near me” — and in most markets we’ve studied, the winner is beatable.

What marketing actually works for a pressure washing business?

For local service work, one channel towers over the rest: Google — the map pack plus, increasingly, AI assistants. That’s where people with a dirty driveway and a budget already go. Flyers, wraps, and Facebook have their place, but they interrupt people who weren’t looking. Google catches people mid-wallet.

So the order of operations is fixed: win search first, spend on everything else with the profit.

Step 1: Fix your Google Business Profile (one afternoon)

Most pressure washing profiles we audit — and we’ve audited a lot of Texas ones — fail the same four ways:

  1. Wrong or broad category. “Cleaning service” instead of “Pressure washing service.” That one dropdown decides which searches you exist for.
  2. Empty services. Driveway, house wash, roof wash, deck, fence, commercial — every service you sell, listed, with a sentence each. Blank services = invisible for those jobs.
  3. Service areas set wrong. List the towns you want, not just your home base.
  4. No activity. No posts, old photos. Google reads it as “maybe out of business.”

Run the full 15-minute checklist — it covers all of it, free.

Step 2: Build the review machine (ongoing, 5 minutes per job)

Pressure washing has a superpower most trades don’t: the before/after is dramatic. Use it.

  • Ask at the reveal moment — when they walk out and say “wow.” The exact script and text-link system is here.
  • Get the customer to mention the service and town in the review (“cleaned our driveway in Temple”) — those words help you rank and get you quoted by AI assistants.
  • Reply to every review. Takes ninety seconds. Most competitors never will.

Step 3: Post the transformations (15 minutes a week)

One before/after post a week on your profile: photo, two sentences, town named. It signals an active business to Google, sells the next customer for you, and costs nothing. What posts do and don’t do, measured.

Bonus: that same photo is your Facebook post, your Nextdoor reply, and your ad creative if you ever run ads. One photo, four jobs.

Step 4: A simple website that answers real questions

You don’t need a fancy site. You need pages that plainly answer what you do, where, and roughly what it costs. That converts humans, ranks for long-tail searches (“roof soft wash cost”), and — this is new — gets you named by ChatGPT when homeowners ask it who to hire.

What about paid ads, door hangers, wraps?

After the above, not before. Ads pointed at a weak profile leak money — people click, see three reviews and no photos, and call someone else. A wrapped trailer works because people Google you afterward. Everything funnels back to the profile; fix the funnel’s end first.

And skip anyone promising “#1 on Google in 30 days” — here’s how those scams work.

The unfair advantage nobody uses

Most pressure washing markets are soft. In several Texas cities we’ve mapped, pack leaders have modest reviews, no posts, and half-empty profiles. Steady weekly work — the boring kind — takes that ground in a few months of consistent effort.

That weekly work is exactly what we do, for up to three pressure washing companies per metro — never the whole field.
